Iwi Māori Partnership Board (IMPB) for Auckland, Ngaa Pou Hauora oo Taamaki, has released its Community Health Plan for the region, and given its position in Rangitāmiro, the new Whānau Ora commissioning agency for the upper North Island, it has considerable weight to solve the crisis of health inequities for Māori.

Ngaa Pou Hauora oo Taamaki Makaurau will host a regional hui to launch its updated Community
Health Plan – a blueprint for advancing Māori health and wellbeing across Tāmaki Makaurau.
The hui, scheduled for 10am, Thursday, 17 April at Te Mānukanuka o Hoturoa, is expected to
bring together whānau, hapū, iwi, and Māori providers to hear more about Ngaa Pou Hauora oo
Taamaki Makaurau, the updated Community Health Plan, and how whānau voices are helping
shaping priorities across the rohe.

Ngaa Pou Hauora oo Taamaki Makaurau – Iwi Māori Partnership Board

This is a brief overview of our Community Health Plan (CHP), which sets out our strategic and operational direction for the next three years. Grounded in whānau voice, this plan outlines how we intend to influence system change and uplift hauora outcomes across Tāmaki Makaurau.

At a glance:

  • A summary of whānau voice insights gathered through hui, Poukai, surveys and kaupapa Māori engagement methods
  • Early themes and priority areas emerging from whānau voice ( experiences and aspirations)
  • A three-year work plan (2025–2027) outlining how we will deliver on priorities and strengthen Māori health outcomes
  • Alignment with national health targets and government priorities, while centering what matters most to whānau
  • Our role as an IMPB in monitoring system performance and advocating for meaningful change and our work alongside Te Whatu Ora
  • A commitment to ongoing whānau engagement across marae, iwi, hapū, and digital platforms from 2025 onward
